Top 10 Nissan Skyline R34 modifications for releasing more power

Published by info@imcarenthusiast.com on

The Nissan Skyline R34, renowned for its engineering and performance, has captured the hearts of car enthusiasts around the world. To enhance its performance further, I’ve gathered various modifications that you can implement to unlock additional power and improve handling.

Essential Modifications for Increased Power

One of the first modifications to consider is a cat-back exhaust system. This upgrade not only improves exhaust flow, resulting in a deeper sound, but also enhances the engine’s efficiency. Coupled with a front-mount intercooler core, this modification significantly reduces intake temperatures, allowing for increased power output.

Adjustable front lower control arms further refine handling by optimising the suspension geometry, while heavy-duty adjustable rear upper camber arms ensure that tyre wear is minimised and grip is maximised. For further suspension tuning, adjustable front tension rods and adjustable rear traction rods allow for precision adjustments, improving overall performance on the track.

Advanced Suspension Upgrades

In addition to these upgrades, implementing an adjustable rear anti-roll bar drop links and adjustable superlow rear toe rods can enhance stability and cornering performance. Heavy-duty adjustable rear upper camber arms also play a vital role in allowing for better weight distribution during dynamic driving.

Finally, adjustable extra lock inner tie rods provide not only enhanced steering response but also increased adjustability for those looking to fine-tune their driving experience. To round out these modifications, an exhaust-adjustable decat pipe can be added, maximizing exhaust flow and further increasing power.

Nissan 200sx S13 S14 S15 Skyline R32 R33 R34 - Adjustable Front Lower Control Arms

£284.99
Japspeed.co.uk
Our Adjustable Front Lower Arms will eliminate the play commonly experienced using the standard items, while also providing adjustable track width, roll centre correction and bump stops. The rose joint bearings also prevent any binding that can occur with the standard lower arms due to the tension rods pulling the arm forward against its natural angle.

It is also important to have camber adjustment on a lowered stiffer car in order to gain as much grip as possible through corners. This is achieved by setting static camber for when the car rolls onto the contact patch of the tyre to engage as much tyre with the ground as possible.

Features:

Fully adjustable length to increase track width
Rose joint bearings
Eliminates all binding and slop in comparison to OEM items
Accommodates for increased steering lock due to adjustable bump stops
Provides adjustment of up to -3 or +3 degrees based on standard ride height

Nissan 200sx S14 S15 Skyline R33 R34 - Heavy Duty Adjustable Rear Upper Camber Arms

£154.99

Adjusting your rear camber is a necessity if you have lowered your car or fitted larger/wider wheels. If you are trying to get the correct stance and fitment, sometimes it is necessary to dial in a bit more camber in order to fit your wheel and tyre combination under the arches. In contrast, if you are using the car for drifting, it is normally desirable to run between 0 and 2 degrees rear camber in order to provide as much traction as possible along with even wear across the width of both tyres.

It is also important to have camber adjustment on a lowered stiffer car in order to gain as much grip as possible through corners. This is achieved by setting static camber for when the car rolls onto the contact patch of the tyre to engage as much tyre with the ground as possible.

Features:

Provides adjustment of up to -3 or +3 degrees based on standard ride height.
MIG welded for strength and durability
Manufactured from high tensile steel with heavy duty pillowball joints
Powder coated to prevent corrosion
Easy bolt-on fitment, no modifications required
As used on our championship winning drift cars

Nissan 200sx S14 S14A S15 Skyline R33 R34 - Adjustable Front Tension Rods

£119.99

Adjusting your front caster is crucial when it comes to dialling in the desired amount of steering response and feel to your Nissan.

Reducing the caster will make the steering wheel easier to turn when driving but will reduce the feel and feedback of the steering. Increasing the front caster will increase feel and firm up the steering. Increasing caster also increases the self centering effect of the steering making the steering naturally return to centre faster, ideal for drifting.

The standard Nissan tension rods feature large liquid-filled bushes that are prone to failing - by replacing these with the high load spherical bearings as found in our tension rods you will notice a lot less play in your front suspension setup.

Powder coated to prevent corrosion
Easy bolt-on fitment, no modifications required

Nissan 200sx S13 S14 S15 Skyline R32 R33 R34 300zx - Adjustable Rear Traction Rods

£134.99
Japspeed.co.uk
Replacing the standard Nissan traction rods with our fully adjustable items allows you to finely tune the suspension setup and characteristics of your car. The traction rods dictate how much toe-in is set on the rear wheels under compression, an essential setting that becomes much more apparent if you are running a wider track. The standard items are also prone to flex, so replacing them with these flex-free items will improve your handling further.

Features:

Manufactured from high tensile steel with heavy duty pillowball joints
Powder coated to prevent corrosion
Easy bolt-on fitment, no modifications required
Fully adjustable
As used on our championship winning drift cars

Hard wearing and self-lubricating
Corrosion resistant

Nissan 200sx S14 S15 Skyline R33 R34 - Adjustable Superlow Rear Toe Rods

£129.99
Japspeed.co.uk
Your rear toe settings are very important and by adjusting them you can completely change the way your car drives. If you have also lowered your car extensively, you may find that you need to reduce the amount of toe in as it will have increased as a result of slamming the car.

Our SuperLow Toe Arms differ from our regular toe arms in that they are kinked to provide added clearance around the subframe bush area. When running regular subframe bushes, polybushes or subframe locking collars on a slammed S-body you will find that the toe arms will occasionally foul the underside of your subframe under compression - especially if your car is heavily loaded with spare tyres and tools when heading to a drift day!

If you are running aftermarket rear knuckles (such as Geomasters or Part Shop Max items) clearance will not be so much of an issue, but with the standard items the problem is much more profound. While fitting subframe risers can help the clearance situation, our SuperLow Toe Arms will truly eliminate the issue.

Features:

Manufactured from high tensile steel with heavy duty pillowball joints
Kinked to provide increased subframe clearance on low cars
Powder coated to prevent corrosion
Easy bolt-on fitment, no modifications required
Fully adjustable
