Darlington NASCAR Cup race heads to Darlington Raceway this Sunday for the Goodyear 400

The NASCAR Cup Series heads to Darlington Raceway this Sunday for the Goodyear 400, the first of two races at the track this season and eighth on the schedule.

The track, dubbed “The Lady in Black” and “Too Tough to Tame,” is known for its abrasive surface and unique egg-shaped layout, which causes high tire wear and drivers to battle the infamous “Darlington Stripe.”

Last year, William Byron won this race, but with the Next Gen car proving to be unpredictable, anything is possible.

Drivers such as Kyle Larson, Denny Hamlin, and Martin Truex Jr. will be hoping to add another Darlington victory to their resumes, while young guns like Ty Gibbs and Ross Chastain will be eager to prove themselves on this difficult track. Keep an eye on qualifying, as track position is crucial at Darlington. Pit strategy will also be crucial, as teams must strike a balance between maintaining tires and speed on pit road. Expect a long, grueling race with plenty of drama and a few bruised egos by the time the checkered flag waves.
