Bugatti Chiron Super Sport único ‘Éléphant Blanc’ vai a leilão

At the heart of the Bugatti Chiron sits one of the most extreme engines ever installed in a production automobile. The 8.0-liter, quad-turbocharged W-16—configured in four banks of four cylinders—traces its roots to the revolutionary Veyron, where early iterations produced just under 1,000 horsepower.

Relentless development elevated those numbers, and when the Chiron debuted in 2016, a heavily revised version of the engine was producing 1,500 horsepower, surpassing the most powerful Veyron by nearly 300 horsepower. In Super Sport specification, combined with advanced aerodynamics, this powertrain made the Chiron the fastest Bugatti yet.

The 2023 production Super Sport, though electronically capped at 273 mph for road use, is closely related to the prototype that became the first road car to exceed 300 mph, achieving 304.773 mph. Bugatti built roughly 80 standard Super Sports, distinguished by its extended bodywork, low-drag profile, air curtains, vented wheel arches, and 25-cm “Longtail” rear section, the Super Sport was engineered for maximum speed and high-speed stability.

Set to cross the block at Bonhams Cars’ Scottsdale Auction on January 23, this 2024 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport features a carefully considered specification and notable modern provenance while only showing 2,750 miles on the odometer. Including its bespoke options, the car carried an original MSRP of $4,106,450 and is accompanied by its original Bugatti build sheet documenting its Sur Mesure specification.

Delivered new to Canada and built to U.S.-market specification, the car is a bespoke Sur Mesure commission conceived as a contemporary tribute to the legendary Bugatti Type 41 Royale and its famed “Éléphant Blanc” association. The design draws directly from Rembrandt Bugatti’s iconic elephant sculpture, linking the car visually and philosophically to the marque’s prewar pinnacle.
